Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers. The signed award letter always controls.
What is AIMS?
Asian Institute of Management Sciences is an education and scholarship-support institution based in Layyah, Punjab, Pakistan.
Does AIMS support overseas PhD study?
Yes. AIMS administers award-specific doctoral sponsorship for selected candidates at eligible international universities, including universities within the top 200 of the applicable QS World University Rankings.
Is tuition covered?
Not automatically. Under the standard doctoral framework, tuition, bench fees, and desk fees are excluded unless the award letter expressly includes them.
What maintenance support is available?
The standard 2026 reference is EUR 2,100 per month for the scholar. Where an accompanying spouse is expressly approved, the total reference may increase to EUR 3,200 per month. The award letter controls the actual commitment.
Is medical insurance covered?
An award may reimburse eligible medical or health-insurance costs up to PKR 100,000 in total, subject to the award terms and evidence.
Is the scholarship fully funded?
The doctoral award should normally be described as a maintenance or component-based scholarship, not fully funded, because tuition and other costs may be excluded.
How long does support last?
A doctoral award may last up to four years, normally reviewed annually. Extension is possible only through written approval.
When does funding start?
Funding begins after verified joining or enrolment and completion of the award’s activation requirements.
Can a scholar change university or programme?
Only with prior written AIMS approval. Approval depends on academic suitability, university ranking, cost, timing, immigration, and funding.
Is spouse support automatic?
No. It applies only where the signed award expressly includes it and the scholar provides the required evidence.
Are children or other dependants covered?
Not under the standard framework unless the individual award states otherwise.
Must scholars teach or serve AIMS?
Some awards require academic contribution during the PhD and one year of service or an approved equivalent after completion. The signed award defines the obligation.
How does a university verify an award?
Use the online award lookup. For detailed written confirmation, submit an institutional request from an official organisational email address.
Is there an open application round?
No public scholarship call is currently open. Doctoral candidates may be considered through invitation or authorised institutional nomination.
Does AIMS charge an application fee?
AIMS does not currently charge an application fee. Never pay an individual or unofficial representative.
Can an agent guarantee a scholarship?
No. No person, consultant, or organisation can guarantee an AIMS award.
